Volunteering at Thornage Hall
Volunteers provide support to service users in our workshops, alongside our Workshop Leaders
What we ask of you
As a volunteer we ask that you:
- Have a flexible approach and a ‘can do’ attitude
- Are reliable and trustworthy
- Have good communication skills and an ability to communicate with adults with learning disabilities
- Are able to work as part of a team
- Are able to attend on a regular basis (once a week is ideal, but fortnightly is okay too)
- Have an ability to learn and problem solve
What we offer in return
We will:
- Offer you the opportunity to participate in a trial workshop with a small group of service users and a workshop leader
- Allocate you to a workshop where you can work alongside a workshop leader who will train and support you
- Provide opportunities for you to develop skills in traditional arts and crafts and/or land based activities
- Undertake a DBS check before you start your volunteer role with us
- We can provide references if you wish to use your experience to apply for jobs

Once we have read your application, we will be in contact to arrange for you to visit our Day Services and arrange for you to have a trial session in one of the workshops. If, after this trial session, you would like to take up a volunteer position with Thornage Hall, we will draft a volunteer agreement for you to sign, follow up any references given, and undertake a DBS check.
