Volunteering at Thornage Hall

Volunteers provide support to service users in our workshops, alongside our Workshop Leaders

What we ask of you

As a volunteer we ask that you:

  • Have a flexible approach and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Are reliable and trustworthy
  • Have good communication skills and an ability to communicate with adults with learning disabilities
  • Are able to work as part of a team
  • Are able to attend on a regular basis (once a week is ideal, but fortnightly is okay too)
  • Have an ability to learn and problem solve

What we offer in return

We will:

  • Offer you the opportunity to participate in a trial workshop with a small group of service users and a workshop leader
  • Allocate you to a workshop where you can work alongside a workshop leader who will train and support you
  • Provide opportunities for you to develop skills in traditional arts and crafts and/or land based activities
  • Undertake a DBS check before you start your volunteer role with us
  • We can provide references if you wish to use your experience to apply for jobs
